Tableau Kitchen and Bar Now Open at South Coast Plaza
New restaurant marks the latest collaboration between Chef John Park and Ed Lee
Costa Mesa, Calif. (January 3, 2022) – The culinary luminaries behind Toast Kitchen + Bakery are bringing their talents to South Coast Plaza with Tableau Kitchen and Bar, a new joint venture where every meal will make a difference. Featuring a chef-driven menu of elevated New American cuisine, Tableau is now open.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the latest restaurant from Chef John Park and Wahoo’s Fish Taco co-founder Ed Lee places a strong focus on fresh seafood dishes with global influences. The menu also showcases Park’s mastery of desserts and pastries, with an artisanal assortment of tarts, cakes, souffles and more.
“We are thrilled to offer this new dining experience that’s inventive, yet still familiar and appealing,” says Chef Park. “You’ll find classics like fried chicken and steak frites on our menu, right alongside more unexpected dishes such as uni carbonara. Our team is focused on the flavor and preparation of everything we serve so each meal at Tableau is a moment to remember.”
Park and Lee also have a shared passion for supporting nonprofits across Orange County, which will help shape the Tableau experience. In addition to donating 10 percent of proceeds to a rotating slate of causes, the restaurant will feature a 12-person “Giving Table” designated for charitable endeavors. Once a month, beginning in 2022, the table may be reserved for a chef-led wine dinner in support of a local organization.
“We are committed to creating not only good food, but also goodwill,” says Lee. “Through our Giving Table and other initiatives, including hiring veterans, formerly unhoused persons, foster youth and victims of abuse, we hope the impact of Tableau resonates far beyond the culinary community. The new restaurant is a dream for me and John, and we hope it becomes an opportunity to connect with a growing number of individuals who are also inspired by the prospect of pairing their love of great food with a way to give back.”
Park draws from extensive experience at renowned Los Angeles-area restaurants, including Providence, Father’s Office, Lukshon and Water Grill, to craft his impressive menus. Guests can expect elegant breakfast dishes like citrus cured salmon toast and crab and charred asparagus quiche; a robust selection of salads and sandwiches for lunch; and a dinner menu that showcases seafood in preparations like the scallop crudo or black garlic noodles with grilled prawns.
The 5,000-square-foot restaurant offers plenty of seating, a full bar with craft cocktails, beer and a curated wine list, and charming patio. Inspired by modern farmhouse decor, the well-appointed space features a neutral color scheme of black, white and gray that adds a contemporary flair to its comfortable, relaxed aesthetic.
Tableau Kitchen and Bar is located at South Coast Plaza in the Macy’s Home Store Wing, 3333 Bear Street, Suite 119, Costa Mesa. The restaurant is open daily, with breakfast and lunch served from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., and dinner from 5 – 8 p.m. Afternoon tea service is expected to begin in early 2022.
