SOUTH COAST PLAZA CELEBRATES THE YEAR OF THE PIG JANUARY 31 – FEBRUARY 18, 2019
Costa Mesa, Calif. (January 2019) – South Coast Plaza welcomes the Lunar New Year with a spectacular celebration filled with special gifts, family-friendly events, complimentary activities and entertainment Jan. 31 – Feb. 18, 2019. Now on its ninth year, South Coast Plaza’s 19-day Lunar New Year festivities are the largest and most extensive of any retail center on the West Coast, drawing visitors from Southern California and abroad.
Shoppers will have many opportunities to mark the occasion. They can receive a gift of a limited-edition Year of the Pig “Bowl of Plenty” with a minimum purchase, select from an array of Lunar New Year-related items for gift-giving at many participating boutiques, attend in-store events, enter to win prizes from luxury boutiques, see specially-designed store displays and windows, enjoy free entertainment and activities on weekends, and more.
As part of a yearly tradition at South Coast Plaza, a custom-designed grand Lunar New Year centerpiece will be on view in Jewel Court beginning Jan. 31. Eight flying pig figures representing auspicious symbols soar over a giant figure of a cheerful pig inside an ornate pagoda. Visitors may choose from celebratory messages at interactive Wishing Trees nearby and take photos that will be displayed on the pagoda’s digital screens.
“South Coast Plaza continues to elevate the Lunar New Year retail celebration,” said Debra Gunn Downing, spokeswoman for South Coast Plaza. “Visitors have made it an annual tradition to come to us for exclusive and culturally relevant experiences and extraordinary new collections in boutiques for gifting and ushering in the New Year with style.”
