Lunar New Year is one of the biggest holidays in the world and food plays an important part in the celebration. Many dishes are thought to have a symbolic meaning such as bringing wealth, good luck or long life. In that spirit, South Coast Plaza’s restaurants offer diners a variety of special dishes to honor the holiday. Please join us for a taste of Lunar New Year.
Chef Tony Esnault of the Michelin-star Knife Pleat has created a three-course lunch menu honoring Year of the Rabbit that begins January 24 and is available Tuesday-Friday. The three dishes may be ordered à la carte as well. Please see menu below. Also:
A Lunar New Year cocktail has also been created, the Lucky Rabbit, with exotic touches of vodka, Szechwan, ambrosia tea, mandarin, star anise.
Knife Pleat will feature a Lunar New Year afternoon tea on Saturday, January 21 and 28. Specially designed dishes include mini mooncake, black sesame ball with mandarin filling, chocolate gold coins and more.
Pastry chef Germain Biotteau’s collection of six signature macarons with Asian forward flavors such as mandarin, passion fruit, mango and black sesame is available in a decorative box.

Highly acclaimed AnQi Bistro from House of An features exquisite holiday décor and offers a Lunar New Year menu with dishes created by the talented chef Ron Lee.
Internationally renowned for its Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), handmade noodles, wontons potstickers and more, Din Tai Fung encourages reservations and walk-ins are welcome. For a limited time, red envelopes will be distributed to guests, while supplies last. The restaurant has a popular take-out program perfect for holiday dining at home.
New to South Coast Plaza this year is MIÀN. Named after the Chinese word for “noodle,” MIÀN serves authentic Sichuan-style noodles and traditional dishes in a full-service, engaging ambiance. An homage to the distinctly delicious (and tongue-numbing) cuisine of China’s Sichuan Province, the menu is anchored by the bold, pungent and spicy flavors for which the region is known and revered.
Paradise Dynasty is located at Collage Culinary Experience at Bloomingdale’s South Coast Plaza, this full-service restaurant featuring the regional cuisine of China, will offer nine Chef’s Lunar New Year dishes available January 16-February 12. Stir-fried Boston lobster with XO sauce, poached chicken tossed with black truffle sauce and braised pork shank with dried scallop and spinach are among the creations.
Paradise Dynasty will also distribute red envelopes, while supplies last, to guests with dine-in offers to redeem on future visits through April 30 (certain restrictions apply).
Quatro Caffé’s special Lunar New Year dishes will interpret the prized delicacy, wild abalone, in a variety of ways, prepared with Asian flavors. Available beginning January 20, lunch and dinner.
